If you’re looking for affordable, organic baby and toddler clothes, gifts and other items, check out My Little Snuggle Bug baby boutique.

Carrie launched this web store in October 2008 and is dedicated to offering quality and affordable organic clothing and accessories. She is also committed to superb customer service and baby products she stands by and uses on her own son. Staples such as the Kate Quinn organic cotton receiving blanket and the six pack organic cotton washcloths that would make great organic baby gifts.

Other store items includes designer baby shoes (non-organic) by Jack & Lily and organic infant sacques also by Kate Quinn.

I am a huge supporter of small business both on and offline and My Little Snuggle Bug is definitely on my list of shops the next time I need baby gifts.

I cant believe its almost May!  Time flies when you’re having fun (and when you’re not).  Between being sick, working on  my web store, contemplating moving, and following the advice from Sara of On Simplicity on the post: 4 Ways to Fight “But I Might Need It Someday” Syndrome (about decluttering) I am beat. I hope this coming week will be a little more mellow.

Green and CHEAP – Hanging out to dry

Since the weather started to heat up in the Bay Area a few days ago, I pretty much put our dryer into hibernation and put our clothes outside to dry. The satisfaction of not using energy to dry my clothes and that sweet smell of sun dried sheets makes my day (I’m easy to please.)

For me, shopping for used clothes is the most enjoyable type of shopping there is (and I’m not a huge fan of shopping in general despite my love of clothes). Though the clothes may or may not be made from organic fabrics, buying used is still eco friendly for obvious reasons.  (Even though the coat in the photo above was purchased new at a consignment store, most of what I buy is preloved.)

I found and fell in love with SkinnySkinny bath and body products.  Their products are made from certified organic ingredients and are eco friendly, including the packaging they use and their overall business practices.  Everything is made in small batches at their Brooklyn facility which is registered with the FDA. They are also members of the Organic Trade Association, most of their products are vegan and all are cruelty-free.

Green and Chic Products: Spa Time Baby, Shea Butter Baby Balm

TAGS: None

I recently added Spa Time Baby products to Green and Chic. Though Spa Time Baby is  for…babies, adults can certainly benefit from this line of products all made with gentle ingredients, great for dry, sensitive skin.

My favorite product from this line is the Shea Butter Baby Balm. Its made from nourishing oils and butters such as shea butter, organic olive and avocado oil and essential oils of tea tree, lavender and a few others.  This is great for soothing cuts, scrapes, diaper rash other first aid skin conditions.

I tend to have really dry skin at times so I love using this on my legs and feet to give it a little boost of moisture.

Of course, its great for babies too. ;) .

Ingredients: Organic olive oil infused with organically grown herbs of calendula, comfrey, chamomile, chickweed, plantain, lemon balm, yarrow, and St. John’s wort, shea butter, golden beeswax, jojoba oil, emu oil, avocado oil, grapefruit seed extract, vitamin E, pure essential oils of lavender, tea tree, rosemary, pink grapefruit, and geranium.

The Controversy of the (Organic) White House Garden

By now, many Americans are aware that  Michelle Obama has plans to plant a local organic vegetable garden at the White House.  While that sounds like a step in the right direction in terms of encouraging us to eat better and support organic farming, not everyone is convinced.

The ones who are not convinced this is what we should emulate are the industries that support “conventional” farming and food production.  Mid America CropLife Association (MACA) was alarmed at the First Lady’s plans to break ground at the White House organically, so they decided to send her a letter educating her on the importance of conventional farming.
