I rarely talk about food and nutrition here on Green and Chic, but I’ve recently stumbled across a few blog posts that are worth sharing.

What Passes For Food in America by Cheeseslave is an eye opening account about what’s severed in many hotels and certain restaurants.  Did you know that the scrambled eggs served in many hotel buffets are not real eggs?  Many times, its powered or artificial eggs made from a substance called “oxidized cholesterol”.  You will be floored when you find out what that is.  If I’ve ever eaten that in the past by mistake, I don’t think I want to know.

21 Ways to Sneak More Vegetables Into Your Diet by RawFoodsWitch gives us some very appealing ways to incorporate more vegetables into our diet.  Foods such as zucchini “pasta” and kale chips will have you forgetting that what you’re eating is good for you!

Another killer reason to avoid packaged foods by Food Renegade – Think mercury is only in fish? Think again. Mercury can also be found in a lot of prepackaged and processed foods containing HFCS (high fructose corn syrup). Read more about it here.

The Secret To Losing Stomach Fat No, this is not one of those Google advertisements that promises you a 6-pack if you drink magic berry juice. Kat Eden with Body Incredible gives us effective ways to lose that belly fat though diet, exercise and overall lifestyle.

Why Go Organic Now? by Green Girls Global gives us a few great reasons why we should “go organic”.

A nice collection of great websites, Carla. By the way, how’s the preparation for your home relocation? Is it going on as you’ve planning?

Thanks for the link love Carla. :)

It’s interesting to read the “what passes for food” article, especially the part about “fat free” everything.

I’ve just kicked off a weeklong series (my first ever!) on our blog called Food For Thought that you might be interested in.

I’m especially angered by the foods that’re marketed for children. Parents hop their kids up on nutritionally-void junk (a.k.a. a Pop-Tart & a pint of Sunny D) for breakfast and then wonder why they can’t concentrate in school. Good Lord, that’s essentially rocket fuel! So of course they’re gonna squirm until the fierce sugar buzz wears off, then they’re gonna bottom out because they’ve had nothing of substance in their little tummies to start the day. The way so many people feed their kids borders on child abuse or neglect at the very least. I see this sort of thing at my son’s daycare nearly every day.

I am taking way from this post the following:

an upset stomach from reading about the fake eggs and sausage, but also a great way to get my stomach in tip top shape.

These are some really great blog you linked to.
