Yes! NOW is the time to do something about it, when we aren't panicky about the price. Brazil is 100% energy independent because they learned their lesson in the 70’s. I hope the US really starts taking steps to go green and to lessen their dependence on Middle Eastern oil.

@Kim – I too was concerned about the people in the Northeast; which is one reason why I’m glad the price of oil is down, but we definitely need to rapidly find alternatives – ASAP.

It is SO important to look into other sources of energy. I don't own a car so buying gas for my car wasn't affecting me in that way. But most of our food is shipped via truck, which is one of the reasons it is so expensive. And a lot of people, especially in the Northeast, have homes that heated with oil. Exactly! You know, lower oil prices do NOT mean buy all the bottled water you can find and fill up the milk jugs with unleaded. Not only will the cycle continue, but it will be WORSE when it bounces back. And unless we take action NOW, it will. Need to get off that oil!
